Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative (SMBSC) is a processing facility located in West Central Minnesota producing sugar and various by-products.
SMBSC's mission is to produce premium quality sugar and animal feeds for quality conscious industrial sugar users and animal feed operations, both domestic and foreign.
We currently slice about 2.6 million tons of sugar beets annually. These beets are produced on 119,259 acres by 587 shareholders in 17 counties covering an area 110 miles long and 100 miles wide.
It takes people with specialized skills to ensure production goals are met. SMBSC employees have electrical, instrumentation, and mechanical skill sets and a strong work ethic.
SMBSC currently employs approximately 280 benefit rated employees as well as an additional 465 seasonal employees. Employees hired as year-round are offered the following benefits:
