JOB SUMMARY

Provides spiritual and emotional support during illness, injury, crisis and/or emergency. Performs spiritual care, effectively documenting spiritual care visits. Conducts spiritual care services and duties including arranging worship and administering rituals. Educates internal and external healthcare groups on spiritual and religious care and responsibilities of chaplains. Networks with community faith leaders as appropriate. Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary team, collaborating with other members to develop and provide spiritual support to client and families. MTGS Demonstrates knowledge and experience in providing spiritual support to client and families. Demonstrates ability to minister to people of diverse faith traditions, displaying respect for cultural diversity. Provides education and spiritual care events within the hospital and broader community. Serves to support, teach, and mentor peers and students when appropriate and requested. When requested, provides spiritual leadership at organizational events such as memorial services, dedications and public events. Manage complex and challenging cases by consulting with interdisciplinary team and chaplain peers. Follows the Association of Professional Chaplains Code of Professional Ethics. Addresses the spiritual care referrals and consults in a timely manner. Follows departmental policies and procedures. Demonstrates critical thinking skills under adverse situations in order to respond appropriately to patients and families. Possesses awareness of personal biases and demonstrates the ability to set them aside while at work. Possesses ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships. Exhibits initiative with events. Provides leadership qualities when necessary. Participates in departmental and staff meetings as scheduled. Depending on location, may be required to serve on call as assigned.

Inspires and motivates the faith of people while maintaining an awareness of sacred responsibilities. Models an attitude of respect for cultural differences. Modulates own tone and body language. Provides pastoral care by respecting religious diversity and individuals' rights. Recognizes changing demands and priorities; validates changes with management. Uses language appropriate to audience. Works to maintain a greater sense of skill, connection, openness, and balance through mindfulness.

DEPARTMENT DETAILS

This is a full-time position, 8am-430pm. Will include additional On-Call. Position located at Broadway Campus. Could work in the following areas: Palliative Care, Roger Maris Cancer Center, Oncology, ICU, and Medical Surgical areas.
Looking for an individual with 3 years of full-time hospital experience in professional Chaplaincy with demonstrated ability to effectively minister to people with diverse values and beliefs.

QUALIFICATIONS

-Board certification or certification eligible; board certification within two years of hire.
-3 units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) are required. 4 units of CPE preferred.
-Minimum of 3 years of full-time Clinical Ministry experience.
-Education: Masters degree or above.
