JOB SUMMARY

The Lead Research Operations Specialist is responsible for maintenance of administrative and logistical support infrastructure of basic, translation and clinical research labs and studies. Responsibilities may include development and maintenance of centralized programs, workflows and processes required for success of investigators and scientific staff. This position will be primarily responsible for operational support of all faculty, staff, students and associated partners of Sanford Research and its subsidiaries in the Fargo, Bismarck and Bemidji regions with additional responsibility for processes and procedure supporting all faculty, staff, students and associated partners of Sanford Research and its subsidiaries across the Sanford Enterprise. The Lead Research Operations Specialists will work collaboratively with Research Operations staff and Sanford corporate service support departments in all regions to maximize efficiency of Research Operations services and support of strategic goals of all Sanford Research groups.
May be assigned roles within regulatory programs and work as liaison with corporate service departments. Assist research leadership with budgeting and resource allocation and strategic planning efforts. Assist in deployment and oversight of shared resources. Delivers written and oral communication, responds to questions and concerns, and produce specific outcomes and impact. Develops and maintain centralized support process, procedures and workflows. Ensures that assumptions and received wisdom are objectively analyzed in decisions. Manages conflicting priorities effectively. Provide assistance and guidance to current and incoming faulty and staff. Responds to shifting priorities while maintaining progress of regularly scheduled work. Serve as liaison between research faculty and staff and corporate service departments. Serves in regulatory workflows as needed. Takes calculated risks because of orientation to action.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Conceptualizes organizational structural changes to promote collaboration. Educates others on coaching strategies, techniques, and best practices. Monitors organizational and functional adherence to procedures and policies. Mentors others in resolving issues and concerns regarding case management processes. Leads in planning and executing major platform changes or migrations. Leads in establishing a climate that views errors and failures as learning opportunities. Promotes a healthy tension within groups that compels them to develop new insights. Supports and communicates the organization's quality management process. Sponsors initiatives to introduce new capabilities that optimize or reduce overall requirements. Demonstrates a high degree of integrity and competence in working collaboratively with clients to address issues, strategies and resolutions across most industry business areas. Communicates effectively with diverse audiences, using appropriate media and language. Leads in implementing and measuring improvement initiatives.

DEPARTMENT DETAILS

QUALIFICATIONS

Associate's degree in a science or related field. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Three years of scientific and or administrative experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Employee must have a current valid Category II driver's license, and must meet all medical guidelines for Sanford Health Category II drivers.
