Cirrus Aircraft is seeking a highly motivated, result-driven person who is focused on enhancing the company's flight training product line, Cirrus ApproachTM. This role provides supervision and direction to the Cirrus ApproachTM team members and often works in coordintaion with other departmental leaders to ensure strategic business success. The position is located in Knoxville, TN at the home of the Cirrus Aircraft Vision Center campus. This role reports to the Executive Director of Flight Training.

Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

The Director of Training Development leads the Cirrus ApproachTM team responsible for creating and maintaining flight training products that enhance the safety, reliability, and satisfaction of flying a Cirrus aircraft. This is accomplished by directing the development and implemention of innovative products and techniques into the Cirrus ApproachTM product line. This position is also responsible for supporting the Director of Flight Training when related to courseware and curriculum, and suporting the company's strategic business objectives. The following highlight other key job duties and responsibilities for the Director of Training Development:

  • Meet departmental objectives and provide deliverables within proposed timelines and on budget.
  • Lead cross-functional teams from product inception and development to execution and measurement.
  • Leverage appropriate channels across Cirrus Aircraft, including Service, Marketing, Sales, and IT.
  • Analyze, identify, and act upon opportunities for product line improvements.
  • Tracking, analysis, and insight to produce effective product services and improve efficiency of backend support processes.
  • Maintain intimate understanding of the Cirrus ApproachTM and flight training service model as well as the key role that flight training plays within Cirrus Aircraft.
  • Mentor and guide team members on project management practices, enabling team members to manage small scale projects.

Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline.
  • MBA or Master's in related discipline (preferred).
  • Current FAA CFII and second class medical certificate.
  • Current FAA IGI & AGI certificate (preferred).
  • 7+ years of flight and/or ground instruction experience.

Pilot school certification and management experience (preferred).
