Position Description:
The Education Specialist (Science and Mathematics) is responsible for STEM related project programming, student guidance, the instruction and tutoring of Student Support Services participants in basic science and math courses. The primary goal of Student Support Services is to increase the retention and graduation rates of low-income or first generation students and students with disabilities. Duties include instruction and tutoring of SSS participants in the areas of science and mathematics, preparation/development of curriculum and course materials, and professional development and service.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Science, Mathematics, or related field
- Minimum of one year related experience working with students
- Experience working with a diverse student population
- Experience in advising students on academic, personal, and/or career matters
- Ability to present concepts to participants through classroom instruction and one-on-one tutoring
- Computer skills
- Evidence of excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Math, Science, Education Management, Leadership or related field
- Experience with federal TRIO Programs
- Student records database experience
- Experience working in a higher education setting
