Position Description:
North Dakota State University's Department of Emergency Management is a free-standing department that offers degrees at the bachelors, masters, and doctoral level. The emergency management faculty are actively engaged in, and committed to, the advancement of the profession and academic discipline of emergency management at the local, state, national, and international level. The Department of Emergency Management is committed to collaborative efforts between faculty within the department, at the college and university level, and with partners outside the university and places a priority on such efforts.

North Dakota State University, Department of Emergency Management invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position to begin August 2019. The successful candidate will be required to teach introductory/general education courses offered by the department, functional area courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels (with a particular emphasis on mitigation), and elective courses including hazard, risk, and vulnerability assessment. The teaching load for this position is 2-2. There are significant research expectations associated with the position. And, it is expected the successful candidate will play a significant role in the graduate programs.

Minimum Qualifications:
• A Ph.D. in Emergency Management or closely related discipline (e.g., Geography, Planning, Sociology, and Political Science)
• Subject matter expertise related to emergency management functional area courses
• Ability to interact and collaborate effectively with staff, colleagues and students
• Effective oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
• Successful grant-writing experience
• Refereed publications
• Demonstrated classroom teaching experience in the aforementioned topical areas, ideally within an emergency management higher education program.
