Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification:
$42,000/Annual, Full-time, Benefitted, Exempt
 
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am- 4:30 pm, occasional nights or weekends
 
Position Details:
The Programming Assistant is responsible for assisting in the planning of all programs provided through the AVP Student Success and Student Academic Services units. In collaboration with other staff in each unit, the position will help design and implement programs and services to meet the needs of the various populations served. The primary responsibility of the position is to assist the Coordinator of Orientation and Outreach in planning, coordinating, and implementing undergraduate Orientation programs for freshman students and transfer students, the Career Fairs, and other programs offered through Student Success and Career Services.
 
Serve as the assistant planner and implementer of Orientation programs for all new student populations

  • Lead in the coordination, implementation, and maintenance of the online orientation software
  • Assist in the coordination of details for the Orientation programs with departments and offices across campus relating all components of each Orientation program.
  • Assist in the recruitment, hiring, orientation, and training of  student Orientation Leaders
  • Assist with the facilitation each Orientation session
  • Gather feedback from attendees and campus partners at each Orientation to assess program effectiveness
  • Work closely with College partners to coordinate all Orientation programs (on campus and online)

 Assistant program and event planner within the Student Academic Services unit

  • Work closely with staff in the Student Academic Services unit to assist in all programming and event functions.
  • Work closely with internal constituencies and external stakeholders as programs and events are planned and carried out.
  • Work closely with others across campus to provide leadership and training for those involved in programming, services, and events.
  • Assess all programs and events for opportunities for expansion and improvement

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks; strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite software, internet, email, database software, and social media
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Self-starter, motivated, and able to work in a fast-paced environment that is focused on student success
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and external constituencies
  • Demonstrated ability to be creative and innovative
  • Demonstrated acceptance and respect for diversity

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience with program development and/or event planning
  • Work experience in higher education

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of UND policies and procedures
  • Experience working new student orientation
  • Experience supervising and/or working with college students
