Position Summary:

Job Function Number 1: Underwriting & administration of aspects of consumer lending-85%
  • Underwrite and decision all types of consumer loans with use of credit scoring model
  • Work with manager to develop and implement new consumer loan products and promotions
  • Attend as necessary loan product meeting to update group on sales volumes and issues requiring decisions
  • Responsible for ensuring that consumer loans are policy compliant or that exceptions are properly approved and documented
  • Support consumer underwriting service level agreements
  • Partner with Financial Guides to manage notes maturing reports, past due reports and cure ticklers
  • Work with Financial Guides to determine appropriate loan products to meet customer needs. Identify potential new lending opportunities and suggest solutions
  • Work with Loan Operations to ensure timely and efficient delivery of loan packages
  • Answer credit questions and resolve problems raised by Financial Guides and Loan Operations
  • Provide adequate underwriting coverage and backup for peak needs, vacations etc.

Job Function Number 2: Actively promote the growth of consumer lending at Alerus-5%
  • Provide input in annual lending business plan
  • Support the development of strategies and product promotions to meet annual growth targets.
  • Work with Lead Financial Guides to develop retail lending initiatives.
  • Review competitor offerings relative to AF product offerings.
  • Train Financial Guides in taking loan applications and sourcing additional loan business.

Job Function Number 3: Training and compliance-5%
  • Understand compliance requirements.
  • Respond to audit findings.
  • Support Chief Credit Officer for all questions related to consumer loan underwriting for OCC exams.
  • Actively provide training for Retail Sales, Relationship Managers and Loan Operations for consumer credit products and procedures.
  • Develop training materials, instruct classes as needed.
  • Attend monthly Financial Guide meetings as necessary to keep them updated on product changes and promotions.

Job Function Number 4: Contribute to sound portfolio management-5%
  • Work with Chief Credit Officer to establish and review requirements for credit scoring standards.
  • Recommend changes to credit scoring parameters as necessary.
  • Work with service vendors on system problems and solutions.
  • Participate in the selection and implementation of any system related software.



Position Requirements:

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business, accounting or other applicable area or equivalent education and job experience.
  • One or more years of experience in financial services industry preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to solve financial situations.
  • Strong technical aptitude for learning systems and processes.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, as well as choose appropriate form of communication as needed (written, verbal).
  • Proven ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.

Physical Demands: (must be met with or without a reasonable accommodation)
  • Extended periods of time sitting at a desk and using office equipment.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer/laptop for approximately 8 hours/day.
  • Extended time is spent reviewing physical and electronic documents.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
  • Periodically, may also do light lifting of supplies and materials which weighs in at approximately 20 lbs.
  • Will spend most of time in an indoor environment.
