JOB SUMMARY:
The purpose of this position is to assess, plan, organize, develop and implement speech-language therapy services for individual students/clients and outside contract services in accordance with current applicable federal, state and facility standards, guidelines and regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES (scope and complexity):This position assumes the authority, responsibility and accountability for assessing, developing, and implementing speech-language therapy programs. This position is responsible for inservicing others on a student's particular needs. Good communication is essential with the student's team, rehab administrative assistant and other coworkers. The speech-language pathologist schedules his/her time with the other therapists, home life services staff and teachers. The incumbent should cooperate professionally, at all levels. The SLP is expected to evaluate and treat the student/client based on his/her own acquired expertise and adheres to the guidelines of their professional standards. Ongoing assessment of student needs to determine direct therapy frequency, training needs for student's whole program, consultation and when to discharge from services is a must.
Most work-related, student/client related problems are resolved at this level. However, major problems that cannot be solved readily, such as, problems that affect other departments, budget issues, outside agencies, procedures, questions regarding policy, etc. are referred to the Manager of Rehab Services.
This position works within the guidelines of ACC policies/procedures, State and Federal Laws and Regulations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (required knowledge, skills and abilities)
1. A Master's Degree from an ASHA accredited program is necessary. Current state licensure as a Speech-language pathologist and ASHA certificate of clinical competence or CFY, or eligibility or evidence of application for licensure, is necessary. Ability to manage general full-time caseload is necessary when hired full time. Experience in the area of pediatrics is desired, but not necessary. Requirements for educationally based services, such as a North Dakota State Teaching licensure is required.

2. The incumbent must be able to demonstrate effective interpersonal skills; being tactful, courteous, and diplomatic with internal and external contacts. Must be able to adapt to rapid change, and must be able to intervene promptly in crisis/emergency situations.

3. Equipment used: Should understand and have a working knowledge of the Windows environment Intranet and Internet technology. The incumbent must have the ability to access, manipulate, organize and relay information in meaningful ways using: use attachments and send them through email, access forms from the directory, check the time care system, etc.
