The Cardiac Sonographer assures a physician order is received, enters and edits orders and completes charges, reviews all required clinical information, provides education, assists the cardiologist with patient exams, performs exam procedures, identifies cardiac anatomy, varies procedures due to abnormal anatomy, identifies cardiac anomolies, heart disease and pertinent clinical information and communicates this to physician, performs computer analysis, reviews echocardiograms, completes documentation, disassembles, cleans and assembles equipment and performs preventive maintenance. Patients cared for include those in the following age groups: infant, children, adolescent, adult and geriatric.

Required:

• Completion of a college level program in cardiopulmonary or ultrasound technology, which includes formal training in echocardiography.

Preferred:

• Experience in adult and pediatric echocardiography.

• Registration by RDMS or RCVT.
