The Registered Nurse provides appropriate pre-operative assessments; individualizes patient care; assesses skin integrity; handles operating room specimens; documents and communicates patient assessment, special needs and changes in patient status; plans and prepares OR suite with supplies and equipment; coordinates surgical activity; performs and functions as a first assistant; supervises and provides patient care; provides patient/patient's family with appropriate education and information; demonstrates ability to access various computer systems to print procedure cards, schedules and labels; maintains an accurate and complete patient record and evaluates quality of patient care. Patients cared for include those in the following age groups: infants, children, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED:

Required:

Registered Nurse.

Licensure required by North Dakota Board of Nursing.

One year of RN OR experience.

Successful completion of the functional assessment.

Preferred:

• Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR).
