Position Summary:
Relationship Bankers deliver comprehensive financial advice to current and prospective clients by assessing their financial needs and offering solutions to help clients achieve their current and future goals. Relationship bankers are experts in marketing Alerus solutions to existing and prospective clients through daily interaction, outbound calling efforts, and networking opportunities. Relationship Bankers will also assist with service and maintenance requests, teller transactions, business account support, and other transactional needs to drive overall success of Alerus.

Relationship Bankers will also assist with service and maintenance requests, teller transactions, business account support, and other transactional needs to drive overall success of Alerus.
Essential Responsibilities:
Job Function 1: Client Service and Growth - 50%
- Assist clients by developing a deep understanding of Alerus product and services and how these support clients' goals.
- Effectively manage, analyze, and grow a portfolio of clients to provide knowledgeable advice to accomplish a high level of financial wellness.
- Document all relevant client communication and activity in Company CRM to assist in delivering an exception client experience.
- Perform regular proactive relationship reviews as defined by segment.
- Place calls to prospective clients to discuss their financial needs and objectives by making outside sales calls, channel contacts, and through other forms of network building.
- Develop strong internal relationships with other client facing team member to serve clients' holistic needs.
- Develop confidence in the following procedures and platforms: consumer and business depository accounts, IRAs, safe deposit boxes, and consumer lending products.
- Contribute to company growth by executing on new deposit and loan accounts to meet annual goals.
- Support the successful operations of any branch in market, including: open/closing, transactions, account service and maintenance
- Actively represent Alerus in the marketplace by getting involved with community organizations and participation in networking organizations.
- Support the needs of other client-facing team member across the company, as needed.
- Develop and maintain a basic level of knowledge encompassing the financial services industry, stay current on trends that impact Alerus' relevancy in its competitive space.
- Maintain a general understanding of basic financial planning concepts including credit, depository products, investments, income and estate tax planning.
- Assume responsibility for career growth and development by proactively establishing an annual personal development plan and presenting to your manager annually. Actively pursue continuing education, reading, and self-development to enhance skills.
- Build solid working relationships with other Alerus professionals, acting as a resource for others.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or related field or equivalent work experience required.
- Minimum 1 year of financial services experience.
- Previous experience utilizing CRM software to track and manage sales opportunities.
- Demonstrated record of proven sales ability and client service abilities.
- Proven written and verbal communication skills.
- Established interpersonal and negotiating skills.
- Basic math proficiency.
- Self-motivated with demonstrated initiative, creativity and enthusiasm to develop sales strategy, prospects and client relationships.
- Passionate about serving clients to positive impact their financial wellness.
- Positive attitude and a desire to serve others.
- Effective communication skills and willingness to work with a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple phases of the sales process.

- Ability to operate a personal computer/laptop for approximately 8 hours per day.
- Extended time is spent reviewing physical and electronic documents.

- Periodically, may also do light lifting of supplies and materials which weighs in at approximately 20 lbs.
