Engineer I - Distribution System

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist with the design and oversight of overhead distribution systems ensuring they meet industry standards and company requirements.
• Contribute to the development of underground distribution networks to create efficient and reliable systems.
• Support the design of distribution substations, integrating cutting-edge technologies and practices.
• Help troubleshoot power quality issues, providing innovative solutions to enhance system performance.
• Aid in reviewing and designing solar interconnects, enabling seamless integration of solar projects into the grid.
• Help drive grid modernization efforts including the development of FLISR schemes, BESS implementations, and recloser additions.
• Support identifying and managing age and asset renewal projects, ensuring the continued reliability and efficiency of the distribution network. 

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is strongly preferred.
  • Candidates completing their degree by December 31, 2024 will be considered.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

• No experience required.
  
  • Utility engineering or Electrical Engineering experience preferred.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• This requisition has two (2) openings – one of the openings will report regularly in person to Duluth, MN and the other opening will report regularly in person to Eveleth, MN.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license as some travel may be required.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills required to establish and maintain positive working relationships.
• This position may be subject to assessment of skills, job match and/or aptitude.
