American Crystal is looking for a self-motivated individual to join our team as a Corporate Accountant at our Corporate Office. The Corporate Accountant assists in all functions of the Corporate Accounting Department. They will complete accounting functions to support the Beet Seed division, agri-products, and asset accounting which include month end and year end reporting, inventory movement reporting, cash application of payments, budget and forecasting, and other special projects as requested by the Corporate Accounting Manager.

The principal accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Lead and promote a positive work culture through Company Values of Safety, Integrity, Quality, Teamwork, and Accountability.
  • Completes day to day accounting entries, including miscellaneous entries, and correcting entries, as well as monthly and quarterly accounting entries.
  • Prepares monthly and quarterly reporting, reconciles and analyzes balance sheet accounts and assists Corporate Accounting Manager with month end and quarter end adjustment entries and closing.
  • Researches and discusses questions on financial statements and completes monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts which includes adequate and detailed documentation.
  • Assists Corporate Accounting Manager with internal control assessments to safeguard assets and promote the accuracy and reliability of accounting records.
  • Works with managers to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures and is involved in preparing audit work papers and providing information to external auditors.
  • Develops a good working knowledge of the processes and computer systems within the accounting department and assists others in the department when needed.
  • Completes special projects as requested by the Corporate Accounting Manager.
  • Develops solutions to problems that arise in conjunction with the Corporate Accounting Manager.
  • Reports to the Corporate Accounting Manager on routine matters to obtain a second opinion but is responsible to analyze and clearly define problems before work has begun.
  • Required to know policy guidelines and is given freedom to operate within the policy.
  • Relies on established policy and precedents as guidelines in formulating solutions and works with Corporate Accounting Manager on problems of an unusual nature for discussion and resolution.
To be successful in this position requires the completion of a bachelor's degree in a related field. Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with excellent attention to detail and a high degree of analytical, planning and documentation skills. Additionally, this position requires having effective working relationships with staff at all levels of the organization. Knowledge and proficiency in SAP is beneficial and Excel experience is a must.
