The Storekeeper position is responsible for purchasing materials within $2,000 limit and in accordance with Purchasing Policies; this accounts for approximately 75% of purchase orders maintained at the factory site. They also assist supervisors, mechanics and other crew leaders in parts identification and vendor sources.

Principle accountabilities include but are not limited to:
  • Maintains chemicals, coal, coke and lime rock inventories to ensure adequate supplies for uninterrupted factory operations, while maintaining minimal balances and reducing inventory carrying costs.
  • Monitors inventory cycle counts to ensure performed on schedule and for all stock items yearly.
  • Arranges and coordinates monthly engineering firm's measurement of coal, coke and rock piles to ensure minimal inventory adjustment at year end. Notify Production Superintendent of results.
  • Performs the daily coal, coke, chemical and lime rock use calculations to ensure the proper quantities are charged to the correct accounts.
  • Issues chemicals and major operating supplies according to established procedures.
  • Coordinates duties, activities and responsibilities of the storeroom staff with the Shift Supervisors to promote consistency between shifts.
  • Coordinates the duties, activities and responsibilities of the Storeroom Specialists to ensure the shipping and receiving duties are handled in a timely manner.
  • Works closely with the storeroom staff.
  • Coordinates the duties, activities and responsibilities of the Truck Driver.
  • Provides direction in the maintenance of the chemical storage warehouse along with the duties, activities and responsibilities of the Materials & Supplies Handler.
  • Coordinates the maintenance of the steel warehouse between the Maintenance Superintendent, Shift Supervisors, Mechanics, Machinists and other maintenance personnel.
  • Participates in review of obsolete inventory and proper stocking levels.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and required to work overtime as necessary.
Job Requirements:
  • High School diploma or a GED certificate is required.
  • Two year degree in accounting or business, or equivalent work experience in office administration or a related area. Prior storeroom or purchasing experience is preferred.
  • Must be able to reference, read and understand how to use MSDS data sheets.
  • Must possess computer skills and be able to learn and use the functionality of all facets of SAP inventory management and purchasing systems which include, but is not limited to requisition writing, parts issuing, inventory maintenance, purchase order maintenance, physical inventories, identification of obsolete inventory and actual purchase of materials within $2,000 limit. Must also have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Excel and Word.
  • Must have demonstrated knowledge of proper procedures for shipping, receiving, and issuing materials; as well as purchasing of materials within the $2,000 limit.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of ACSC cataloging and parts numbering systems.
  • Must be able to identify and locate storeroom items in SAP MM System.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of materials in inventory and used in the factory. Must be able to identify alternates to parts required by maintenance.
  • Must understand factory chemical management program and possess an understanding of chemicals used in factory process.
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communications skills, and must be able to interact with a wide range of ACSC employees and suppliers.
  • Must be able to provide work direction in a clear, concise and well thought out manner.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to become forklift certified.
