This is a full time position to begin with the 2025-2026 school year. Join our dynamic team at Bemidji High School as a School Counselor committed to promoting our students' academic, personal, and social development. You will play a pivotal role in supporting a positive school climate where all students can thrive academically and emotionally. This will be achieved through the design and delivery of counseling that ensures the success of a diverse population of learners. In addition, you will be responsible for building positive relationships and working collaboratively with students, parents, and staff members to foster a positive experience for the entire learning community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manages student registration processes; registers students and provides orientation regarding procedures and expectations; creates and adjusts student class schedules.
  • Provide individual and group counseling to students, addressing academic, career, and personal/social issues.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to develop and implement strategies to support students' educational and personal goals.
  • Assist students in developing academic and career plans, including college and career readiness activities.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support as needed, ensuring the safety and well-being of students.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation
  • Build positive working relationships with students, parents, and staff.
Qualifications:
  • State certification or licensure as a School Counselor (or eligibility for certification/licensure).
  • Experience working as a School Counselor in an educational setting is preferred
  • Must be an effective team member; making student-centered decisions; managing difficult situations; and fulfilling professional responsibilities.
  • Must have strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, parents, and staff.
