This new position will work with our other cooks in the preparation of nutritious and safe food for meals prepared at our kitchen at 620 4th Ave South in Grand Forks.
The senior citizen meal production for this site in Grand Forks includes the “dining in” program (breakfast and lunch) for the GF Senior Center; one on-site and two off-site grab-n-go locations; Meals on Wheels-meal delivery program; and a frozen meal program covering GF and Nelson counties. The average number of meals is 450-500/day.
This is a full time, benefitted position.
Hours are 6am-2:30 M-TH; 6am-1:30 F. No nights, weekends or holidays.
Hourly wage: $26.25
Duties to include:
• Takes pride in the job of producing attractive, tasty and safe food products for a busy, growing foodservice operation. This position will work on the food production of breakfast and lunch items. Food preparation is done to prevent contamination or spoilage. Food is produced to meet the serving timelines. Stock is rotated to use first in, first out method. Works with the Food Service Manager to plan amounts that will be prepared so appropriate supplies can be ordered. Equipment maintenance needs are relayed to the Food Service Manager.
• Works with the Food Service Manager for planning of frozen meal production. This position will help oversee the inventory and production of frozen meals. Supply needs are relayed to the Food Service Manager.
• Check with Food Service Manager the day before to locate all food supplies that will be needed for the following day’s production.
• Work with the Food Service Manager on recipe development and standardization.
• Takes the initiative to maintain a clean and sanitary dept. Will be expected to complete a food safety training within the first 2 months unless you already have a current one.
• Expected to work with and/or train other employees to perform the duties of this position as needed.
• Stands and walks the entire shift. Medium to heavy lifting is required. Bends, lifts, carries and pushes when performing duties.
• Our agency is in the middle of a construction project to more than double the size of our kitchen area with construction to be completed by July 2025. We are expected to have to cook at an off-site location for up to two months during the construction period. This position will help move items back and forth from the off-site kitchen to our serving area at the GF Senior Center. Once the construction is complete, our foodservice will start to prepare more items from scratch or par-cooked/baked status which will take more time. Our number of meals continues to increase thus the need for an additional cook and the new space.
• The dept currently has a Food Service Manager, Head Cook, Asst cooks, Kitchen Aides and a Dishwasher.
