Shift Lead Operator
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Learn all facets of the ethanol process including: cook, distillation, evaporation, dryers, thermal
oxidizer, centrifuges, grain system, oil separation, and water treatment.
2. Follow Standard Operating Procedures for plant start-up, shut down, and cleaning.
3. Learn and operate DCS (computer control system) for the plant.
4. Perform board operator duties.
5. Collect samples and do the necessary tests to ensure consistent and quality product and record
results.
6. Respond to collected data and make adjustments as needed.
7. Responsible for notifying the shiftlead of any problems.
8. Keep accurate and timely logs.
9. Complete any and all tasks assigned by the shiftlead.
10. Keep plant facilities clean.
11. Keep operators coming on shift briefed via shift exchange meeting.
12. Participate in the plants PSM, FSMA, and safety programs to ensure accurate and timely completion.
13. Assists with diagnosing, troubleshooting, and preforming preventative maintenance as necessary.
14. Communicates directly with lab, maintenance, and grains departments.
15. Safe work practices are a condition of employment; wear proper PPE as required.
16. Learn and operate the CMMS program.
17. Promote Granite Falls Energy, LLC in the community.
18. Maintain a team environment with all other plant employees.

Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Requires a valid driver’s license.
• Be able to operate utility vehicle.
• Must be hard working and self-motivated.
• Detail-oriented; proficiency for accuracy; dependable; positive attitude; team player.
• Ability to multi-task and take ownership of assigned projects.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
• No experience required.
• Experience in industrial production plants helpful.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
Must be able to manage confined space entry, climb ladders and steps and lift a minimum
of 50 lbs. Will be exposed to high noise levels. Qualified individuals will work at
heights, be able to adapt to 12-hour workdays, and be able to meet call-in requirements as
needed. Elevated work required.
Education/Language Ability:
Individual must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers. Individual must
be able to work with fractions, metric system, percentages, and decimals. Individual
must be able to read, write, and comprehend the English Language.
