Responsibilities:
  • The provision of oral health and hygiene services, within the scope of practice, in long term, assisted living and independent care facilities;
  • Work according to Vivie's policies and procedures and as directed by program director and collaborating dentist;
  • Assist in identification of a Dental Provider for each resident if agreed or responsible party based on needs and preferences;
  • Assist with maintaining statistics and benchmarking for this grant and help to market and share information with funders and partners in the healthcare industry.
  • Provide baseline oral health and hygiene screening and assessments based on accepted principles of oral hygiene and periodontal care, including Minimum Data Set oral health assessments for skilled nursing facilities;
  • Develop individualized Daily Oral Care Plans for residents in consultation with nursing staff;
  • Develop individualized Preventive Treatment Plans to guide the use of professional preventive dental services;
  • Provide supervision, advice, and assistance with oral hygiene care provided by nursing, therapy and other staff;
  • Develop and provide training materials for ancillary staff via formal in-service education programs and individualized instruction as needed; and
  • Communicate effectively about dental hygiene care with residents, families, responsible parties and other health professionals involved in the resident's care.
Qualifications:
  • Certified and licensed to practice in the State of Minnesota
  • At least two+ years of general clinical dental hygiene experience
  • Familiarity with Open Dental software & NOMAD portable x-rays, preferred
