Our deepest purpose as a marketing and foundation team is to support the health and well-being of our patients, residents, and communities through effective, impactful, and creative communication of Lakewood care services and community initiatives.
Mission for Position
The Foundation Development Officer will play a pivotal role in establishing and nurturing valuable relationships with our community of donors with an emphasis on soliciting major gifts in support of strategic goals. The Foundation Development Officer will manage a portfolio of current and prospective donors to increase their involvement and support of the Lakewood Foundation through research, cultivation, and solicitation of donors to grow and strengthen the program.

The Foundation Development Officer will manage a portfolio of current and prospective donors to increase their involvement and support of the Lakewood Foundation through research, cultivation, and solicitation of donors to grow and strengthen the program.
Duties & Responsibilities
Donor Relations (85%)
- Work in collaboration with the Foundation Director and VP of Strategy & Development to develop and implement annual giving strategies for Lakewood.
- Manage major donors and prospects to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward supporters.
- Maintain donor databases, communications, payments, and retention plans.
- Identify donors' passions and interests, build relationships, and leverage those relationships into meaningful support opportunities that utilize a variety of gift vehicles including multi-year gifts and planned giving.
- Increase the number and quality of donor prospects through individual visits, research, donor database management, and networking.
- Conduct research to identify and qualify new major gift donors.
- Create and present compelling proposals to prospects and donors demonstrating the impact of their gifts
- Develop and manage capital campaigns as needed for building/expansion projects
- Manage foundation committees as needed
- Organize, recruit, and train system and foundation volunteers
- Maintain detailed records of all donor contact, history, and activities.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of information collected.
- Assist with Foundation and Lakewood Health System events as needed.
Part-Time: 24 -32 hours/week.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- BA/BS degree, plus two years of experience working in advancement and/or foundation operations, project or event management, or a combination of experience in a closely related field. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Self-starter, resourceful, highly attentive to details
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a strong sense of urgency coupled with demonstrated success in management of multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated success in working independently but also collaboratively in a team setting
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and constituents
- Solid relationship-building skills with a diverse constituency of donors, faculty, strategic partners, volunteers and colleagues
- Outstanding oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including effective presentation skills.
- Ability to maintain confidential information
- Demonstrated experience working with databases, websites, and related technologies
