Position Description:

The Department of Animal Sciences at North Dakota State University, Fargo, ND is seeking an Assistant Manager of the Beef Cattle Research Complex (BCRC). The BCRC is a state-of-the-art cattle research facility with capabilities for measuring and controlling individual feed intake of cattle housed in pens. This facility allows NDSU faculty, staff, and students to conduct beef-related activities to fulfill its land-grant mission of research, teaching, and extension. This is a split appointment position (70% assistant manager BCRC, 25% technical support for the Beef Extension Specialist, 5% support of the NCI Feed Mill). The selected assistant manager will be responsible for 1) Support of research projects at the BCRC, 2) Personnel management, 3) Assist with facility management and maintenance, 4) Technical support for the Beef Extension Specialist, and 5) Assist with feed preparation, delivery, and database management at the NCI Feed Mill. This position is considered full-time and will require some weekend hours. Benefits at NDSU include but are not limited to retirement, health plans, vacation time, and sick time. Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in animal science (or related field); Demonstrated experience working with beef cattle; operation of common farm equipment ( e.g. skid steer, tractor, livestock trailer); Experience with data handling, spreadsheets and word processing; Valid U.S. driver's license; Ability to work independently and as part of a team; Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in animal science (or related field); Experience with animal research and sample/data collection and analysis; Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) certification or the ability to obtain shortly after hire; Experience with feed mill operations.
