Description & Details: The purpose of the carpentry trade at NDSU is to maintain, repair, renovate and remodel all the buildings; classrooms, labs, offices, residence halls and apartments on campus, inside and out. Apartments and residence halls duties will include: Drywall repair, painting, light electrical and plumbing work. Carpentry/General Maintenance may include: Installation/removal of flooring; repair/service/replace- locks, windows, ceilings, furnishings/furniture, cabinet doors; build wood/metal stud walls, etc. Carpenters also coordinate jobs with other trades such as painters, plumbers and electricians. Additional duties as assigned may be necessary for NDSU to fulfill its mission.

Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday 7:30AM - 4:00PM with a rotating schedule for 24/7 callbacks

Advertised Salary: $55,000 min/yr

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED;
  • 5 years work experience in commercial carpentry;
  • Ability to read blue prints;
  • Valid Driver's License;
  • Good interpersonal and written communication skills;
  • Customer service and detail oriented.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • AAS Degree in Carpentry;
  • 7 years work experience in carpentry;
  • Welding experience;
  • Computer experience ie: Microsoft Office, Outlook, FAMIS.
Core Competencies:

Operate and maintain all hand and power carpenter tools and basic operation of skid steer, tractors and man lifts. Computer skills, organizational/prioritization ability, good interpersonal/oral/written communication skills, customer oriented and detailed oriented.
