Description & Details:

The Diabetes Prevention Program Coordinator will work collaboratively with a team of Extension professionals to assist with diabetes prevention efforts across North Dakota. This grant-funded position is 0.7 FTE and is 100% remote.

This position includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:

Provide assistance to the North Dakota Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP)
  • Maintain certification as a Lifestyle Coach for the Diabetes Prevention Program
  • Provide technical assistance to lifestyle coaches and implementing agencies
  • Work with Community Health and Nutrition Specialist lead to provide required reporting and evaluation data
  • Assist in developing materials needed for prediabetes awareness, program promotion, and program delivery
  • Manage referrals for the National Diabetes Prevention program
  • Recruit lifestyle coaches in identified communities
  • Coordinate outreach events

  • Read and abide by all the rules and regulations at NDSU as outlined in the NDSU Policy Manual.
  • Be an active learner and keep relevant with new teaching strategies, advances in the professional field, technology, news and related research.
  • Be self-directed with minimal supervision in the work environment.
  • Contribute to a positive work environment through cooperation, collaboration and teamwork with others by developing and maintaining good working relationships with co-workers, staff, employees and clientele.
Work Schedule:

30 hours a week, 100% remote

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree, by start date, in a discipline related to the responsibilities of the position.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, access, and inclusiveness.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with individuals, groups and through mass media.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including ability to interact and collaborate effectively with a diversity of colleagues.
  • Trained lifestyle coach for the diabetes prevention program.
  • Organizational management skills including the ability to conduct oneself professionally, be self-directed in the work environment and work flexible hours.
  • Manage time and resources to efficiently accomplish the duties of the position.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Extension work experience.
  • Ability to travel within the state of North Dakota
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience coaching or mentoring others.
  • Experience designing educational resources and delivering educational programs.
  • Experience using distance education for the development and delivery of programs.
