The office of International Student and Study Abroad Services (ISSAS) at North Dakota State University (NDSU) is seeking an international student advisor to join the international student services team. The international student advisor builds and maintains relationships with an assigned group of international students with the goal of ensuring students maintain their visa status, successfully adapt to life in the US and at NDSU, and ability to navigate personal matters that may affect their continued attendance at NDSU.

A successful international student advisor contributes to achieving international student enrollment goals through supporting incoming international students during the intake process prior to each semester, designing and delivering student retention programs throughout the academic year, and staying current on the Code of Federal Regulations (CFRs) for the F and J visa programs in the US.

The position's main responsibilities will include:
1) Proactively reaching out to and advising an assigned cohort of international students;
2) Maintaining students' SEVIS records with accuracy and in timely fashion;
3) Developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders across campus including department heads, faculty, and student support staff;
4) Delivering programs aimed at assisting with intercultural adjustment to ensure student retention; and,
5) Working with the international student services team to design and deliver student engagement programs.

Work Schedule:

Monday through Friday 8AM-5PM, 7:30AM-4PM during breaks and summer. Occasional evening and weekend work and overnight travel may be required.

Advertised Salary:

$45,000+ DOE, plus an excellent benefits package

Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent and 5 years' related experience, or Bachelor's degree (BA or BS).
Experience living, working, or studying abroad and/or related experience working in a cross-cultural context.
US Citizenship or permanent residency in accordance with US CFRs to serve as a Designated School Official (DSO)
and/or Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO).

Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of a foreign language
Demonstrable experience with detail orientation
Experience working with college-aged students
Experience with federal regulations related to F1 or J1 visas.
