The NDSU School of Natural Resource Sciences (SNRS) invites applications for a 12-month research faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. This position is non-tenure track with a 100% research appointment.

Description & Details:

The successful candidate will develop a nationally recognized, independent, and collaborative applied research program. Research efforts should support the North Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station and North Dakota stakeholders. Candidates will be expected to produce peer-reviewed publications, secure extramural funding, and mentor graduate students. We are searching for applicants to conduct innovative research in any of the following areas that could involve production agriculture, natural systems, or their interface: applied agricultural entomology, insect interactions (plant, animal, pathogen, etc.), or conservation and ecosystem services. We also encourage the successful applicant to carry out research to strengthen or broaden current research expertise within the NDSU SNRS (i.e., range science, natural resource management, soil science, and entomology).

Work Schedule:

12-month appointment, 40 hours/week

Commensurate with experience

Minimum Qualifications:

• A doctorate in Entomology, Natural Resources Management, Range Science, or a related field. Candidates who are nearing completion of their Ph.D. are also encouraged to apply, but a doctorate is required by the start date.

• Potential to develop and conduct original research related to agriculture and/or natural resources.

• Demonstrated verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience advising and/or mentoring graduate students from various backgrounds.

• Evidence of relevant scholarly contributions, including peer-reviewed publications, presentations, grant writing, and/or successful acquisition of external funds to support research activities.

• Experience working with diverse stakeholders and student populations.

• Service to discipline or university, including engagement with professional societies.
