Position Overview:

North Dakota State University (NDSU) seeks a qualified candidate for a full-time visiting lecturer in the Apparel, Retail Merchandising and Design program.

The Apparel, Retail Merchandising, and Design program in the Department of Art and Design+ at NDSU offers students a dynamic and versatile curriculum with three specialized options: Fashion Product Development, Fashion Entrepreneurship, and Retail Merchandising. The program also facilitates industry connections through travel and study programs, including affiliations with institutions like the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York City. Numerous scholarships are available, providing financial support for students in this thriving and dynamic field.

The School of Design, Architecture and Art is comprised of the Department of Art and Design+, the Department of Architecture, and Department of Landscape Architecture. This collection of disciplines represents over 750 students at the University focused on design and art related disciplines.

The position is primarily a teaching position and requires the ability to teach the following classes: Beginning Apparel Construction, Apparel Construction and Fit, Advance Apparel Assembly, Trend Forecasting, Textiles, Fashion Show, and Study Tour. Appointment begins August 16, 2024.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in apparel design/product development OR, Bachelor's degree with 5 or more years of relevant industry experience, OR15 or more years of relevant industry experience.
  • Experience with educational software relevant to discipline.
  • Teaching experience directly related to the teaching assignment.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
Desired Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in using Adobe Creative Suite and a 2D/3D CAD program (e.g., CLO3) for design and visualization purposes.
  • Industry experience is preferred, but not required.
Salary: Commensurate with academic experience and qualifications. Benefited.
