The VP/Human Resources Director is responsible for implementation of the human capital strategy, aligning people with business strategy in an engaging and high-performing culture.  The VP/HR Director directs the human resource functions of the organization, including recruiting, hiring, performance management, compensation, benefits/wellness, and related training, while ensuring the company is compliant with state and federal laws and regulations.  The HR Director serves as an educator, mentor, and coach to others in the organization in order to optimize the HR systems in place, consistent with the organization’s vision, core values, and team guidelines, and is responsible for managing related vendor relationships, budget development and department goal-setting/monitoring/reporting  to achieve organizational goals.  

The HR Director performs the following functions consistent with the organization’s human  capital strategy: 

  • Strategic Leadership – Partners with other organizational leaders to develop talent strategies to support the overall goals and initiatives of the organization.  Ensure that strategic initiatives and plans support the strong Western culture and continues to build a positive and empowering environment for new and existing team members.

  • Leadership Development & Training – Develops training and development structures, programs and content to continuously develop the Western team and plan for succession of key roles within the organization.

  • Recruiting/Hiring- Identifies effective candidate sources, ensures streamlined applicant tracking, recruitment, and effective communication with hiring managers and candidates, and implements recruitment tools to aide in effective selection process. Creates and manages a superior on boarding experience for the new team members.

  • Compensation Administration- Administers a best practice, market-competitive total rewards program consistent with the organization’s total rewards strategy and compensation philosophy. 

  • Benefits and Wellness- Implements and administers competitive benefits and wellness strategy for the organization, ensuring effective communication and processes are in place, including reports to senior management on the effectiveness of the benefits/wellness strategy and workforce education.  

  •  Performance Management- Designs and manages performance systems including coaching feedback and performance management, to ensure a high performing organization. Develops and implements employee development opportunities to align with strategic focus.  

  •  Compliance:  Manages Human Resources program in a manner that complies with laws and regulations, including the preparation and filing of required regulatory reports, as well as drafting, updating, and maintaining employee handbooks, policies and procedures.      

  •  Administrative:  Prepares and manages HR budget and internal HR procedures.  Develops HR dashboard by identifying and analyzing data for meaningful and actionable strategies, and reports regularly to management. 

  •  Team Leadership:  Leads the Human Resource team and provides direction and support in the team continuously supporting the organization and its team members.   Ensures that the human resource strategy continues to identify talent and human capital needs and develops goals and initiatives to fulfill those needs while planning for the future and supporting continued organizational growth.

  •  Special Projects:  Manages special projects as directed by COO, including other duties as requested.  

Bachelor’s Degree Required- Knowledge of specialized principles or techniques which would normally be obtained through a formal 4-year college or university academic program directly related to the work being performed along with 10+ years of experience. SPHR and SHRM-SCP preferred.
