WDAY, Fargo, ND, is seeking an enterprising and results-driven General Sales Manager. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in broadcast sales. WDAY (ABC) serves the Fargo/Grand Forks TV DMA, along with our ABC affiliates in the Minot/Bismarck, ND DMA. WDAY-AM radio serves the Fargo area, and is among the first stations in the Midwest to broadcast.

The General Sales Manager will be a strong leader, a collaborator, have excellent interpersonal skills, be a creative thinker and have a willingness to learn. We are looking for someone who can lead our sales team through the exciting world of broadcast Television and Radio.

Job Duties Will Include
  • Create a well-developed sales team
  • Create department budgets annually and quarterly
  • Provide clear and measurable goals to the sales team
  • Facilitate consistent and structured team meetings to create dialogue on performance against goals and identify tactics to address gaps
  • Develop targeted team sales training and skill-building activities
  • Develop a pipeline of qualified candidates for the sales team
  • Create and execute strategic sales plans, annually and quarterly, to achieve sales goals in alignment with revenue expectations
  • Maximize revenue through inventory control
  • Ensure each sales person achieves revenue targets across all platforms and business lines
  • Implement creative, revenue-building ideas
  • Manage client results, satisfaction and retention
  • Collect and analyze monthly and quarterly revenue forecast information for sellers on a weekly basis
  • Provide accurate weekly forecast of local sales to General Manager
  • Review all local orders for accuracy, rate integrity and inventory availability
  • Work with the Traffic Department on inventory management and control
  • Ensure compliance with station policy, state and federal laws


Position Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing or business.
  • 3-5 years experience in Broadcast sales management.
  • Hands on broadcast advertising sales experience.
  • Proven ability to grow revenue through new and traditional revenue streams.
  • Strong and positive leadership skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A proven track record of new business success is a must.
  • Familiarity with OSI and Hubspot is preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and a driving record that is insurable by the company.
  • Must carry an acceptable level of vehicle insurance as required by the company.
