EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR DefinitionThe Construction Labor Management Council (CLMC) of Southeastern Wisconsin is a non-profit union labor-management organization dedicated to promoting and serving the needs of the union commercial construction industry in the Southeastern Wisconsin region. The CLMC Board of Directors is comprised of key construction industry stakeholders, consisting of an equal number of union labor and management representatives. Position OverviewUnder the direction and guidance of the CLMC Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for program oversight, leadership and implementation of the strategic vision of the CLMC. Responsibilities include eliciting direction from the individual board members, garnering support for initiatives that are mutually beneficial to both labor and management, establishing and maintaining relationships with key external stakeholders, and executing the strategic vision of the CLMC Board. The Executive Director must possess the excellent interpersonal skills necessary to elicit and advance the common interests of the diverse body of the CLMC Board. Essential FunctionsLeadershipServe as Executive DirectorProvide oversight and direction to the non-profit organizationDevelop and implement Local Workforce PlanCapitalize on workforce resources throughout the regionDevelop and implement Local Economic Development PlanDevelop and update CLMC's strategy and vision to enhance better union labor- management relationsIdentify and create the strategic initiatives and advocacy programsAnalyze existing economic situations relative to business attraction and expansionReview modern techniques for business attraction and retention and negotiate and resolve sensitive and controversial issuesMonitor program performance and periodically report status to CLMC BoardInitiate market development strategiesFinance and Fund DevelopmentEstablish and maintain financial controlsDevelop an annual budgetExpand budget through grants and sponsorships to support the strategic plan CommunicationsCreate and maintain strong communication between stakeholders and the public via a communication plan, ensuring clear communication of the CLMC's strategic vision for the workforce system and business developmentDevelop and maintain strong relationships with the CLMC Board and stakeholders, facilitate positive engagement between both partiesEngage with elected officials to advance development of the region's workforceCollaboration and IntegrationMeet with local government officials, commissions, civic groups and industry stakeholders to promote CLMCCoordinate and lead workforce partners to accomplish the strategic vision and support the organization's vision for close collaboration, integration and creation of the workforce systemGuide the CLMC to effectively harness its skills, resources and powerManagement and OversightDevelop and implement an organization work planLead and supervise the CLMC's staff and resourcesDevelop skills and potential of staffBe familiar with current and emerging union labor-management trendsDevelop and strengthen relationships with state, local and federal elected officials, public entities, local governments, private businesses and individuals Qualifications, Knowledge and SkillsCombination of education and/or experience that provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for satisfactory job performance. Example combinations include a Bachelor's degree in a public/business administration, urban planning, economics, marketing, finance or related field. Master's degree desirable. Seven (7) years' experience in economic development, community development or redevelopment activities in the public or private sector. Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent industry experienceDemonstrated experience in union labor-management programs and leadershipDemonstrated experience in staff management, Human Resources, and experience as a supervisorDemonstrated experience managing non-profit finances including oversight experience with fiscal controls, accounting processes, and experience creating and maintaining budgetsDemonstrated experience in project management, marketing and communications management skillsDemonstrated experience in policy development and implementationExceptional verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work independently and exercise judgment as well as participate in a project teamAbility to take directionAbility to supervise and provide direction to subordinate staffSome flexibility of schedule to include occasional night meetings or out of the area travel for meetings, trainings, etc.Knowledge of computer-based office systems and experience with spreadsheets, word processing and related software Compensation commensurate with experience HOW TO APPLY:Please send resume and cover letter to both Dan Bukiewicz () and Kevin O'Toole () Application closes July 31, 2019
