Hiring Department:   Facilities Management

Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification:  $50,000+/year, benefited, full-time, exempt
Benefits: Includes single or family health care coverage (premiums paid for by the university), basic life insurance, EAP, retirement plan, tuition waiver, annual and sick leave.  Optional benefits available: supplemental life, dental, vision, flexible spending account, supplemental retirement plans.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; rotating shifts.  Summer Hours may vary. All positions with Facilities are subject to 24/7 call backs

Position Details:  For full consideration, all application materials must be fully submitted by 5PM (Central Time) on the closing date.
 

  • Responsible for set-up, installation, piping, wiring, troubleshooting, testing and repair of complex digital and analog electronic equipment including the Distributed Control System, PLC’s, Process Controls, Human Machine Interfaces, and other plant electronic systems.
  • Installs and maintains industrial boiler electronic automation with control software. 
  • Maintains records, electronic logs, and data archives.  
  • Responsible for the installation, maintenance and calibration of steam plant remote monitoring devices and control systems, steam plant operator interface systems, steam plant process engineering work station, steam plant process control cabinets, steam plant and general electrical/mechanical systems, and general electronic equipment and systems.
  • Proficient in the use of basic hand tools, process meters, multi meters, oscilloscopes and other electronic diagnostic equipment.
  • Trains staff on assigned equipment to include Delta V operating interface system for boiler process controls.
  • Maintains all process control licensing agreements.  
  • Maintains and calibrates electronic tools and equipment. 
  • Assists with emissions compliance and continues monitoring systems.


Competency  Requirements:

  • Must be willing to work in buildings containing hazardous materials and be tested for the ability to wear a negative air respirator.
  • Must be willing to have an intimate knowledge of steam plant process and combustion controls.
  • Ability to read blueprints and use hand held analytical communicating, programming, and troubleshooting equipment. 
  • Good interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lift in excess of 75 lbs. occasionally and to work from ladders, scaffolding and lifts without height challenges.
  • Ability to work withstand long periods of standing, walking, bending, lifting, and working with hands overhead in warm and cold environments.
  • Follow safety rules and promote safe behaviors.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associates Degree in Electronics OR combined equivalent related education and/or experience in a related field
  • Experience with Microsoft  Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Electronics and two years work experience in the electronics or process control field. 
  • Working experience with electronic controls, pneumatic controls, pressure transmitters, temperature transmitters and electronic/pressure valves.
  • Experience with Emerson DCS Delta V or similar systems and associated field instruments
  • Experience with Scada Systems, such as: Electro Industries Gauge, HMI software, etc.
