Position Description:
Tenure Track Assistant/Associate Professor in the area of automation, controls, and robotics. Successful applicants must have a B.S. and an earned Ph.D. in mechanical engineering or a closely related discipline, and a record of accomplishment that demonstrates outstanding abilities or potential in the following skills: oral and written communication, undergraduate/graduate teaching and course development, research and grantsmanship, publication of scholarly activities in peer reviewed journals, academic and professional advising, and work-place cooperation and collegiality. Duties include developing an externally funded research program, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, student advising, and service to the university and profession.

Preference will be given to candidates with a research emphasis and teaching interests in the areas of controls, automation, instrumentation, robotics, and/or mechatronics. Successful candidates will have demonstrated the ability to develop and conduct independent research, develop and teach classes, and mentor capstone design projects and extra-curricular projects, in these areas.

Minimum Qualifications:
•B.S. and earned Ph.D. in mechanical engineering or closely related discipline.
•Strong oral and written communication skills.
•Ability to develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses.
•Ability to publish scholarly activities in peer-reviewed journals.
•Ability to develop an externally funded research program.
•Workplace cooperation skills.
•Ability to participate in academic and professional advising.

Preferred Qualifications:
•Research emphasis and teaching interests in the areas of controls, automation, instrumentation, robotics, and/or mechatronics.
•Strong record of scholarly achievement to include demonstrated ability to develop and conduct independent research.
•Strong evidence of teaching excellence to include developing and teaching classes and mentoring capstone design projects and extra-curricular projects.
•Professional engineer registration.
