DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS:

Director of Operation
is better known as the D.O.O. The Director of Operations is the operating head of all the heads of department at an individual site. All the departmental heads must report to this post. The Director of Operations job description is extremely versatile in nature, as the applicant must handle all the departments of the company and must have complete knowledge of the functioning of each department. The D.O.O. reports to the Regional Director of Operations for the organization. The Director of Operations must keep a close eye on all the daily functions of the office and each department and go through all the work and reports prepared by the departmental heads and make a final report for the Regional Director of Operations of the company. The DOO must report all the details to the Regional Director of Operations and must coordinate with the lower, middle and higher-level management.

Duties and responsibilities of a Director of Operations are:
  • Report all the work-related details like reports, findings and observations to the Regional Director of Operations.
  • The duty of the DOO is to manage all the departments in an organization and guide them, make strategies with the management regarding future and profits of the company.
  • Keep a close watch on all the functions of various departments to make sure all departments are performing up to the required standards.
  • Set the targets for each department and help them in their budgets and also solve any inter departmental issues and handle a number of employees
  • Keep a watch on the spending of the individual departments and make sure that they are operating within their budgets and have that information on hand as they can be required during any meeting held by the board
  • Make reports for the higher management which are easy and understandable
  • Address employee issues on a regular basis and work for building a great working environment for the employees work to ensure the smooth functioning of the company
  • Maintain compliance in Department of Human Services and NAEYC

Skills Required: Skills and specifications required by a DOO are the ability to work for a bright future of the company, manage the disputes efficiently in time, is a great manager and manage the work to ensure successful completion in time; is skilled to keep calm under work pressure and possess great decision making skills, communication skill both oral and written and have the sense of understanding towards the employees in various departments and have the qualities of a good leader. Some of those are: Inspires coworkers to attain goals and pursue excellence.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement and makes constructive suggestions for change to the Regional Director of Operations.
  • Keeps up to date on the process of innovative change occurring in the company
  • Remains on the forefront of emerging industry practices.

Teamwork:
  • Consistently acknowledges and appreciates each team member's contributions.
  • Effectively utilizes each team member to his/her fullest potential.
  • Motivates team to work together in the most efficient manner.
  • Keeps track of lessons learned and shares those lessons with team members.
  • Mitigates team conflict and communication problems.
  • Plans and facilitates regular team activities outside of the office.

Client Management:
  • Manages day-to-day client interaction.
  • Sets and manages client expectations.
  • Develops lasting relationships with client personnel that foster client ties.
  • Communicates effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions.
  • Continually seeks opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships.

Staff Development:
  • Conducts effective performance evaluations and mentors those with less experience through formal channels.
  • Helps team execute career development plans.
  • Seeks and participates in development opportunities above and beyond training required by us.
  • Trains other staff through both formal and informal training programs.
  • Encourages more junior staff to take responsibility for their development within the company.
  • Challenges fellow staff to progress toward their professional development goals.
  • Suggests areas for improvement in internal processes along with possible solutions to the Board.
  • Reviews the status reports of team members and addresses issues as appropriate.
  • Complies with and helps to enforce standard policies and procedures.

Experience and education requirement for a Director of operations are a bachelor's or a master's degree in business administration with sound knowledge in early childhood; and or bachelor's in Early Childhood and have sound knowledge and be competent with all aspects of business management.

Type of position and report to :The position of DOO reports only to the Regional Director of Operations or the CEO of the company. The position of DOO is a full-time salaried position. The DOO is entitled to Paid holidays, two weeks of PTO, free child care for the first child and ?? the second if there at the same time, option for short term/long term disability and 401K, medical and dental plans.
