Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for leading the design process for Commercial products with in the Commercial, Government and Defense group (CG&D ) related vehicles, components, and systems from concept to production. Design Engineer will also support accessory integration for CG&D products and provide technical solutions to meet consumer needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establishes a reasonable project development schedule from concept to production implementation in line with overall business requirements.
  • Supports all design related component styling, purchasing and manufacturing issues with emphasis on quality, reliability, timely delivery, and cost.
  • Determines ideal component manufacturing route to ensure overall design, performance, and cost conformance.
  • Determines nature and type of electronic models, detail drawings, and analysis required to support the above and supervises their release through the release cycle.
  • Collaborates with designers and engineers inside and outside the team.
  • Prepares preliminary sketches and/or schematic diagrams and/or presentations to aid in the understanding and solution of engineering problems.
  • Coordinates/Prioritizes design tasks with contract design resources.
  • Performs trade-off analyses to determine optimal design solutions taking into account cross-functional team inputs.
  • Leads and/or participates in design reviews on components/systems/projects to ensure adequate input and involvement from all interested groups.
  • Analyzes field problems and recommends possible solutions.
  • Performs other miscellaneous project related assignments.
  • SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

  • Required-B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years related design experience.
  • Experience with a 3-D CAD modeling package, PTC Creo preferred.
  • Preferred experience with PDM software (Windchill).
  • Creation of original system specifications and requirements.
  • GD&T, FMEA, dimensional tolerance stack-ups.
  • Strong technical knowledge as demonstrated by academic experience and practical experience outside of school.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Quick learner with high level of ambition and drive.
  • Strong people skills, able to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to work with domestic and international technology partners.
  • Microsoft software including Excel, Project, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
