Hiring Department:  TRIO Upward Bound

Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification: $38,000/year, Exempt, Full-time, Benefited, 12 Months (12 month position, dependent on grant funding.  Current grant cycle authorized through May, 2022. )
Benefits: Includes single or family health care coverage, basic life insurance, EAP, retirement plan, tuition waiver, annual and sick leave.  Optional benefits available: supplemental life, dental, vision, long term care insurance, flexible spending account, supplemental retirement plans.  
Work Schedule:  Occasional overnight travel required. Must be available evenings and weekends for six-week summer program.

Position Details:   A Complete Position Description is available as an attachment in the bottom right corner of this position announcement.

  • Assist TRIO Project Director and Upward Bound Assistant Director in implementation of all Upward Bound activities, services, and programming.
  • Meet with student participants in target schools on regular basis during the school year, and provide tutoring and educational assistance.
  • Assume a leadership role in promoting Upward Bound in target schools.
  • Participate in the writing, compilation, and research of data related to the development of grant proposals.
  • Involvement in the recruitment and selection of student participants in the program.
  • Maintain accurate participant files and other information necessary for evaluations and audits.
  • Coordinate summer curriculum and work study program.
  • Assist in the organization, collection, and continuous development of the Upward Bound filing and tracking system.
  • Assist in activities during the summer program as requested by TRIO/Project Director and Upward Bound Assistant Director.
  • Assist in the administration of the academic year and summer program including supervision of part-time staff.
  • Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal communication.
  • Ability to operate/drive a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work, or related field.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Successful completion of a criminal history background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work, or related field.
  • Experience in teaching/advising and curriculum/testing for high school age students.
  • Experience in postsecondary preparation (academic advising, financial aid, enrollment, etc.).
  • Experience with TRIO Programs. 
  • Background/experience working with low-income, first generation populations.
  • Experience in technology resources helpful
