Summary:

Under general supervision performs very specific skilled work. The successful candidate for this role should be an experienced welder/maintenance person who can weld, maintain and repair plant/plant operations including working with crushers, conveyors, screens, pumps, gearboxes, etc. Maintains and repairs structure, piping, fixtures and equipment. Performs predictive and preventive maintenance. Job includes projects to repair and fabricate components essential to production processes. Performs other duties of a similar nature as may be required.

Responsibilities:

Support the Simon safety culture and other Company strategic initiatives
Observe safety procedures, report potentially unsafe conditions, and use equipment and materials properly
Installs, modifies, maintains, repairs, overhauls, tests and adjusts a variety of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical equipment and machinery.
Performs plumbing, pipefitting, welding, sheet metal and structural work.
Performs shaft alignment, motor/gearbox alignment and associated tasks
Performs hand rigging, forklift rigging and crane rigging
Diagnoses problems, troubleshoots and analyzes faulty equipment.
Performs predictive and preventive maintenance on equipment
Utilizes the computerized maintenance management system as necessary to aid in performing predictive and preventive repair tasks, and assist the supervisor in planning work.
Fabricates parts using shop equipment.
Designs layout work on new equipment and makes recommendations on modification to existing equipment.
Prefer experience to use manual lathes, vertical and horizontal mills, and drill presses but not required
Must provide own set of tools
Mechanically inclined on a wide variety of hand tools and power tools
Ability to work in outdoor environment, in elevated areas, and confined spaces
Pro-active in safety and works well in a team
Performs other related work as required.

Qualifications, Education, Skills and Experience:

At least two years' experience in industrial maintenance and welding preferred
High school diploma or its GED equivalent, technical or trade school is preferred.
Valid driver's license required
Extensive knowledge of standard mechanical practices, methods, materials and tools. Good skill in the use of hand
and power tools and mechanical and electrical shop and field equipment.
Ability to handle a variety of duties without close supervision
Ability to carry out instructions furnished in oral, written or diagrammatic form. Demonstrated
competency and ability to successfully complete proficiency tests in mathematics, reading, writing,
communication, maintenance skills and other related subjects.
Receptive to job related training.
Ability to work unscheduled hours during emergency and/or unusual situations

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
Regularly required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel
Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear)
Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
Standing/working on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain
Frequent exposure to loud noise
Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles
Regularly exposed to fuel, oil, and other chemicals
