POSITION:   Agriculture Department Instructor
 
LOCATION:  NDSCS-Wahpeton
 
TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: Full-time, tenure track, 9-month faculty position.
 
BACKGROUND CHECK:  NDSCS requires a successful background check for the selected candidate prior to official offer of the position.
 
JOB SUMMARY:  This is a full-time, 9-month instructional position in the Agriculture Department.  Primary instructional responsibilities include teaching a variety of agriculture courses such as:  world food crops, agronomics technology, precision agriculture, overseeing student internships, and teaching other agriculture courses as needed.   Precision agriculture and agronomy will be a specific focus of this position.    
 
Internship visits occur during the summer and require travel, including overnight stays (valid driver’s license required).   Supervision of summer internship experiences will be compensated under a separate contract.  Other duties include curriculum development & revision, student advisement, assisting with student organization activities, student recruitment, committee participation, assessment of student learning, and related departmental and college responsibilities. 
 
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

• Must support the mission, vision and values of NDSCS
• A master’s degree or equivalent education and work experience with a willingness to obtain a master’s
  degree in agriculture or closely related field.
• Demonstrated competency in precision agriculture and agronomy or related subject matter
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Computer and technology literate
• Hold a valid driver’s license
• Motivated, self-directed, & able to work effectively & professionally with students & staff in a team setting.
• Ability to articulate and support the two-year postsecondary college philosophy with a commitment to teaching and learning in a two-year college setting.

 
QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:

• Master’s degree or higher in a related Agriculture field
• Successful college or secondary teaching experience
• Demonstrated competency in precision agriculture concepts
• Holds current Certification by North Dakota Department of Career and Technical Education.

 
SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience.
