Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification$75,000+/Annual, Full-Time, Benefited, Exempt

Work Schedule:  Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. This position may occasionally require work in the field for up to several weeks at a time, shift work, and/or activities outside normal business hours.

The EERC is looking for an engineer with expertise in oil and gas production facilities design and operation; and an active interest in research and development of energy technologies. This individual would manage projects and/or work for a project manager or principal investigator and contribute to the success of projects that could include material and/or technology concept development, bench- and pilot-scale testing, process engineering, and system design.
 
Specific assignments may include developing new, innovative research concepts; writing proposals and securing research funding through public and/or private sources; and managing and executing research programs to advance energy technologies.  Occasional business travel may be required.


The successful candidate would support these development efforts by performing the following essential functions:
 

  • Developing innovative, applied research concepts.
  • Participating in the preparation of funding proposals to expand the EERC’s mid- and downstream oil and gas program.
  • Contributing to the design, modeling, and hands-on fabrication of experimental equipment.
  • Utilize process modeling software to evaluate process operations and system performance.
  • Operating and/or overseeing operation of experimental and analytical equipment and instrumentation
  • Travel to support project activities.
  • Acquiring and interpreting data.
  • Writing reports and papers.
  • Interpersonal interactions with colleagues, clients, and project partners.
  • Presenting project results to clients.
  • Presenting papers at national and international conferences.

Minimum Requirements
 

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience with oil production equipment and systems.
  • Hands-on experience with processing systems.
  • Project management/execution experience.
  • Cover letter and resume.
  • Not required by the EERC, however, some clients will require drug screenings.
  • Successful completion of criminal history background check.

Preferred Qualifications
 

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in chemical, mechanical, or petroleum engineering.
  • 5-10 years of experience designing, operating, troubleshooting, and debottlenecking oil production equipment and systems.
  • Field experience operating and optimizing oil production equipment.
  • Expertise with process modeling software such as Aspen, HYSYS, etc.
  • Experience with process control design and programming (LabVIEW).
  • Expertise designing oil field production equipment and/or systems.
  • Experience writing funding proposals.
  • Experience managing engineering projects including client management, project planning, budget and schedule management, data/results analysis, and report writing. 
  • Academic, Post-doctoral, or work-related research experience in oil and gas production related to topics such as:
    • Flaring mitigation
    • Air emission reduction/mitigation
    • 2-phase or 3-phase separators
    • Produced fluids characterization
    • Artificial lift
    • Gas compression, processing, and separations
    • Enhanced oil recovery systems (water, carbon dioxide, rich gas)
