Position Summary:

The Senior Treasury Management Specialist is responsible for the sales and servicing of commercial deposit products and cash management services. Working closely with retail and commercial sales staff, this position will act as the subject matter expert for commercial deposit services and the on-boarding of new commercial deposit relationships and accounts. This position is responsible for all aspects of account fulfillment for commercial deposit products. This individual will also act as a resource for retail and small business customers.

Essential Responsibilities:

Job Function Number 1: Sell deposit products and services - 40%
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of commercial deposit products and services including attributes, delivery, pricing and servicing and how those products can be used most effectively by commercial customers.
  • Identify and generate new sales opportunities for both current and prospective customers.
  • Prospect and identify target markets for commercial deposit opportunities.
  • Conduct account analyses and provide recommendations of appropriate products and pricing for new business customers.
  • Identify and recommend product extension opportunities through regular customer reviews.
  • Coordinate and provide account fulfillment for new sales.
  • Be committed to customer's successful use and deployment of all Alerus deposit products.

Job Function Number 2: Provide customer support - 20%
  • Provide technical support for ACH related customer issues, remote deposit services, positive pay customer issues and other business online related setup and support.
  • Meet all service level agreement time frames for resolution of customer cash management issues.
  • Interview customers to determine product needs related to electronic payments and deposits for commercial services setups and access.
  • Train commercial services customers on new product and user and account configuration setups.

Job Function Number 3: Plan and execute deposit product initiatives - 15%
  • Act as a project resource for all product development initiatives.
  • Identify change management needs and provide recommendations to Deposit Product Management team.
  • Stay abreast of changes to deposit products & services in the banking industry.

Job Function Number 4: Compliance and audit items - 15%
  • Understand and act as a resource for deposit compliance requirements.
  • Work to resolve current deposit audit issues.
  • Be alert to changing deposit compliance requirements.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for commercial account documentation requirements and account ownership issues as it relates to online setup and configuration.

Job Function Number 5: Provide daily support to other customer facing staff - 10%
  • Designated expert for deposit product questions related to both commercial and retail products.
  • Work with Business Advisors to coordinate, prepare, and present periodic customer reviews of large deposit customers.
  • Field requests from sales staff to conduct customer account analysis to determine appropriate product set for customer needs.
  • Approve CD or pricing exception requests.
  • Train all customer facing staff on deposit products and services.
  • Act as a resource and train other Treasury Management Specialists.

Position Requirements:

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or five years of experience in the financial services industry.
  • Customer service or sales experience.
  • Minimum three years in a Treasury Management role.
  • Familiar with and comfortable working with technology.
  • Willingness and aptitude to study for and obtain AAP designation.
  • Prior work experience with online banking systems.

Physical demands: (must be met with or without a reasonable accommodation)
  • Extended periods of time sitting at a desk and using office equipment.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer/laptop for approximately 8 hours per day.
  • Extended time is spent reviewing documents, both actual papers or electronic.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
  • Periodically, may also do light lifting of supplies and materials which weighs in at approximately 20 lbs.
  • Will spend most of time in an indoor environment.
