JOB SUMMARY
Provides clinical and departmental leadership for cardiac diagnostics, including electrocardiograms (EKG), stress testing, holter monitoring and cardiac rehab.
Conducts a wide range of non-invasive cardiac tests, under direct supervision, for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. Performs cardiac tests, including cardiac rehab, and monitors patient heart functions using diverse cardiology equipment. Checks, calibrates, and maintains cardiology equipment to ensure proper operation and accurate results. Provides care and counseling for cardiac patients to ensure their comfort and safety during cardiac tests and treatments. Educates patients on how to wear and care for holter monitor, document for holter monitor, document symptoms in diary, and how to return the monitor when it is taken off. Alerts nurses or physicians of critical values, abnormalities, or changes in patient responses. Obtains and records patient information and medical histories. Submits information and reports for productivity and billing purposes. Interprets EKG results and generates factual written reports. Performs EKGS and assigns all EKGs from within the clinic. Manages scheduling and work queues effectively. Ability to navigate and troubleshoot accessible EKG databases. Ability to apply monitors to patients of all ages. Manages all other duties as assigned.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform general administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments or ordering supplies or equipment.;Monitor patients' blood pressure and heart rate using electrocardiogram (EKG) equipment during diagnostic or therapeutic procedures to notify the physician if something appears to be wrong.;Follows hospital procedures to educate patients and caregivers on conditions and treatments.;Evaluates the accuracy of results obtained from cardiac tests.;Coordinates work schedules and workloads for personnel.;Conduct electrocardiogram (EKG), phonocardiogram, echocardiogram, stress testing, or other cardiovascular tests to record patients' cardiac activity, using specialized electronic test equipment, recording devices, or laboratory instruments.;Check, test, and maintain cardiology equipment, making minor repairs when necessary, to ensure proper orientation.;Adheres to established internal standards and procedures abstracted from HIPAA.;Works in coordination with physicians and specialist teams to administer care to cardiac patients.;Supervise or train other cardiology technologists or students.;Responds to day-to-day operational priorities while still making progress on project work.;Records and explains data images generated from electrocardiogram examinations.;
QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of a medical assistant program or equivalent work experience in cardiac testing is required.
Experience as a Cardiac Technician or equivalent with electrocardiograms (EKG), holter monitoring, and stress testing required. Possesses proven leadership skills.
Certified Cardiac Technician (CCT) certification required at the time of hire.
