Job Details

Position Overview: 

The Production Supervisor position is an integral player in Baldinger’s success. These individuals serve as coach, mentor, and instructor for our team members on the production line. They drive safety, process, and ensure consistency, superior quality, yield, and efficiency. They possess a solid working knowledge of formulations, functionality of ingredients, and strive for continuous improvement.

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Maintains a safe work environment
  • Initiates a Pre-Op check-off system for daily operations start-up.
  • Check sheet to be completed and variances reported.
  • Monitors the process from start-up to finish (EDY). Processes monitored during this time period include (variances to standard documented and corrected with corrective action logged):
    • Mixing time
    • Fermentation times and temperatures
    • Oven times and temperatures
    • Cooler speeds
    • Number of units produced
    • Number of units shipped
    • Daily waste
    • Other processes as needed
  • Makes sure all reporting is complete, timely and accurate.
  • Maintains responsibility for proper COA, codes, and final product reconciliation.
  • Coaches, counsels, and makes recommendation for disciplinary action. Administers agreed upon (HR/Management) disciplinary consequences as necessary.
  • Cross-trains and assesses job performance on a timely basis.
  • Schedules and trains production personnel in equipment procedures and various activities. In addition, maintains headcount levels for production requirements.
  • Monitors employee punches and makes the necessary corrections and additions, for submission to payroll promptly, on a daily basis.
  • Responsible for GMP Practices that are required by a food manufacturing plant and are in compliance with company and customer standards.
  • Ensures a safe working environment by monitoring safety standards while in production, as well as a contributor to the safety committee.
  • Communicates with managers, line-workers, and departments so as to assist in solving daily, long-term, and short-term difficulties. Attends operational and training meetings. Communicates ideas, suggestions, and key information to and from direct reports.
  • Responsible for maintaining schedules on a daily basis, while achieving the goals that are set by upper management, as well as being flexible in our operational procedures if and when adjustments need to be made.
  • Being able to adjust to any changes and/or corrections initiated by your immediate Superintendent or Managers.
  • Assist in the proper, detailed orientation of new hires and temporary help, before scheduled workday. Other duties may be assigned as business necessitates.
  • Abide by and insure plant personnel are following all GMPs, Personal Safety, Food Safety, HACCP, and SQF Rules. Adheres to the Baldinger Code of Conduct.
  • Role model behaviors that display teamwork, respect, professionalism and that also reflect the Vision and Mission of Baldinger Bakery.
  • Demonstrates the willingness to learn as part of the organization’s continuous improvement process.
  • Works in a safe manner and promptly reports hazards identified in the work environment.
  • Abide by and insure plant personnel are following all GMPs, Personal Safety, Food Safety, HACCP, and SQF Rules. Adheres to the Baldinger Code of Conduct.
  • Role model behaviors that display teamwork, respect, professionalism and that also reflect the Vision and Mission of Baldinger Bakery.

Education and Experience/Knowledge Requirements: 

  • Must have high school diploma and three years of relevant manufacturing experience.
  • Good oral, written, and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of problem solving skills and progressive disciplinary procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across cultural differences. Ability to interact with all levels of management.

Desirable Skills/Attributes: 

  • Completion of AIB correspondence course, or course(s) related to the position.

Physical Demands: 

  • Able to stand for up to 12 hours, while working with and around machinery.
  • Able to stoop, bend and crouch on a regular basis to check equipment or supplies in low-lying areas.
  • Able to lift 60 pounds once per hour and 10 to 50 pounds repeatedly.
  • Able to push and/or pull wheeled carts of 100 to 500 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Able to sweep, mop, and do general, as well as, detailed cleaning.
  • Able to climb ladders.
  • Able to raise arms overhead repeatedly while lifting 30 pounds.
