STARTING DATE: August 26, 2019 or as soon as possible

SUMMARY OF POSITION: Core work hours are 6:30 am to 3 pm. Also required to work rotating weekends and occasionally split shifts - 2 days per month average. Hours may be adjusted based on the needs of the department.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for assisting with the operation of all aspects of Food Services.
  • Directly accountable and responsible to the Day Supervisor/Cook.
DUTIES:
Assists with the operation of Food Service - 50%
  1. Washes dishes, including dishwasher operation, puts clean dishes away, and keeps the dishwasher and dish room clean.
  2. Ensures adequate supplies are on hand and replenishes for the following shift.
  3. Assists with the stocking of coolers and freezers.
  4. Assists with the cleaning and sanitizing of the work area.
  5. Operates various kitchen equipment and cleaning equipment.
  6. Ensures all sanitation, safety and security rules are being followed and maintained.
  7. Follows Sanitation and HACCP programs; including but not limited to documenting food and serving temperatures; hot and cold.
  8. Maintains serving stations at proper temperatures.
Assists with food preparation, set up and serving - 45%
  1. Assists cooks in preparing meals for all stations.
  2. Prepares and sets up the serving line; assists in serving and maintains adequate food supplies.
  3. Assists in the preparation, set up, serving and cleanup for banquets, special dinners, or events.
Miscellaneous duties - 5%
  1. Maintains prescribed personal appearance.
  2. Supports innovation, creativity and ideas to improve/enhance processes, functions, etc. in the department and as a whole for the college.
  3. Performs any other duties required or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
  • Work experience in a food service operation.
  • Requires high school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to operate various kitchen equipment and cleaning equipment.
  • Ability to follow communicated instructions and to work independently after instructions.
  • Good interpersonal and customer service skills and common courtesy in working relationships with students, employees, and the public.
  • Basic computer skills - e-mail and electronic calendar (Outlook).
  • Requires some evening and weekend hours.
  • Must observe established health and safety requirements of a food service operation.
Preferred:
  • Two years of work experience in a food service operation with working knowledge of methods of cooking and preparing foods.
