Description
We are currently seeking a customer service minded individual to fill our Assistant Cook position. The Assistant Cook is responsible for the preparation of attractive, nutritious and well balanced meals according to the developed menus in accordance with sanitary standards and recognized food servicing standards. This individual will also assist the cook in upholding our commitment to maintaining a standard of excellence for our residents and guests.

The Assistant Cook is responsible for the preparation of attractive, nutritious and well balanced meals according to the developed menus in accordance with sanitary standards and recognized food servicing standards. This individual will also assist the cook in upholding our commitment to maintaining a standard of excellence for our residents and guests.
Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Performs daily household duties, responsible for the general cleanliness of the kitchen and food storage areas.
- Understands universal precautions of food safety (meal temps) and infection control protocols. Assists building in maintaining & following health code regulations.
- Assist in maintaining appropriate meal schedule for multiple meals served daily (24/7).
- Participates/attends staff meetings and training sessions, as directed
- Effective communication & teamwork is expected.

Minimum Requirements
A successful candidate possesses the following:
- Has a high school diploma or GED minimum
- Previous experience in related position preferred
- Current Serv-Safe certification and/or food handler’s certificate as required by city, state, & federal regulations
- On-going and/or continuing education will be provided. This will be outlined upon hire by the specific department (E.g. safe food handling, garnishes, what’s new with nutrition, etc.)
- Must demonstrate a professional attitude, appearance and work ethic
- Must be able to safely lift a minimum of 50 pounds and complete job functions which require repeated body motions
