THE FIRESIDE in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota is looking to add to its core kitchen team.  This Becker County icon has been established for 70+ years as the premier lake side dining destination.  Located in beautiful Minnesota lake country, The Fireside is currently seeking highly motivated and creative individuals with a strong work ethic. 

JOB DESCRIPTION
The main purpose of the Assistant Kitchen Manager, or Sous Chef, is to execute the recipes & procedures provided to you.  We operate a culture of creative excellence & consistent execution in terms of both food production & professional training.  This ensures that our guests experience our very best.

Our team of Cooks in the Fireside kitchen are expected to operate as a team, mutually respecting one another.  With our exposure to the guests thru our open kitchen door, constant cleanliness is a must.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Flawless daily food preparation and production during service
  • Direct the kitchen team when the Executive Chef is absent
  • Maintaining a clutter-free culture of cleanliness and organization
  • Maintaining a professional culture free of harassment based upon mutual respect
  • Daily equipment detailing
  • Uphold all health department standards
  • Always lead by example.
  • Work efficiently to resolve any problems that arise in the kitchen

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong work ethic
  • Effective communicator
  • Detailed organization
  • Team working skills…including front-of-house staff
  • Critical thinking
  • Good personal hygiene traits

POSITIONS AVAILABLE

  • Full Time, Year Round
  • Sous Chef and Production Cooks

SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS
Due to the industry and seasonality differences, our cooking positions require a solid commitment in-season from May 1st to September 30th.  The off-season, from October 1st to April 30th, allows us more flexibility with scheduling.  Remember, in our industry, we always work weekends, nights and holidays as these are typically our busiest times.

COMPENSATION, BENEFITS & CULTURE

  • Beginning Hourly Salary ranges from $15 to $20 per hour
