Assistant Coordinator, Landscape (Internal - NDSU employees only)

Position Description:
Duties associated with the care and maintenance of landscape and arboretum for a campus of 260 acres. Provides technical service for the installation and maintenance of underground irrigation systems and water features in the landscape, landscape installation and floral display plantings. Oversight for pesticide application program. Performs supervisory duties associated with support of unit coordinators functions.

Minimum Qualifications:

• BS Degree - Horticulture, Arbor, Parks and Recreation, Turf Management, Ag Engineering or closely related field
• Experience with the maintenance and installation of underground irrigation systems; knowledge of sports turf maintenance procedures and schedules;
• Experience with maintenance of landscape ponds, streams and fountains;
• Experience with greenhouse production of annual and perennial bedding plants; experience with landscape construction-planting, edging, retaining wall installation, paver installation.
• Experience with Arboretum design, care and maintenance.
• Two (2) years of direct and/or indirect supervisory experience with three (3) or more employees
• ND Class 'B' commercial drivers license or equivalent
• Experience with the operation of large scale computerized irrigation systems;
• Experience with operation of related irrigation and landscape equipment to include trenchers, vibratory plows, turf maintenance equipment, tractors and trucks;
• Experience with the operation of GPS / GIS computerized software.

Preferred Qualifications:

• ND Pesticide Application Certification - Greenhouse, Ornamental/Turf categories
• 5 years arbor experience
• Arbor certifications

Physical Demands:
Operation of heavy equipment. Requires frequent lifting of up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
