Job Summary ** This posting is used to fill up to 32 temporary openings located in Brainerd, MN **

The Health Insurance Program Representative 1 provides customer service and application, eligibility, assessment, and enrollment administration of Minnesota Health Care Programs (MHCP) such as Medicaid (Medical Assistance and MN Care) and Insurance Affordability Programs (IAP). This is the first step of a two-step career ladder that can lead to movement to a higher level of responsibility of the Health Insurance Program Representative 2.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide direct telephone customer service to MHCP applicants, enrollees, client representatives, and other stakeholders so that individuals receive support and assistance to achieve and maintain accurate MHCP eligibility, benefits and service delivery
  • Educate applicants, enrollees, client representatives, the public, and other stakeholders about MHCP eligibility requirements and processes; benefits; and service delivery
  • Perform intermediate level tasks in the application, assessment, and enrollment administration of MHCP and eligibility, benefits, and service delivery and IAP eligibility.

Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two years of customer service experience.
  • Ability to administer policies, procedures, and systems used to make eligibility determinations.
  • Strong computer skills with the ability to navigate multiple software applications, databases, as well as possessing data entry skills.
  • Ability to use math skills to calculate income using multiple sources of documentation.
  • Strong customer service skills and effective oral and written communication.
  • Ability to read, speak and write English well enough to understand, apply and explain complex eligibility policies.
  • Quickly adapt to changing policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work within a high volume, deadline-orientated, and accuracy-focused program where performance and production standards must be met.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently with a strong work ethic and demonstrated record of regular attendance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Health Care with an emphasis on Minnesota Health Care Programs.
  • Experience working within the new eligibility system as it relates to the Minnesota Health Care programs.
  • Experience using state mainframe systems such as MAXIS, MMIS, and METS.
  • Knowledge of Affordable Care Act.
  • Ability to interact and communicate with a diverse group of individuals.
