Calvary Lutheran Christian Preschool, Bemidji, MN is seeking FT Teachers. Prefer 2 year early Childhood Education or Child Development Degree.Hours are 9:30am to 6pm, Monday through Friday starting August 26th.
Job Overview: To assist the teacher in matters of classroom support
Job Category: Full-time (9 month school year), hourly, preschool classroom staff
This person would report to: Preschool Director
Preferred Qualifications:
- Have a clear understanding of the Christian faith and possess the ability to share God's story with children
- 2 year degree in Early Child Education or child development
- Have an awareness of the unique needs of young children and have appropriate expectations of their abilities
- Be CPR/AED and Pediatric First Aid certified or willing to be obtained within 30 days of employment
- Time management skills, self-motivation and good organizational skills
Expectations:
- Comply with Minnesota Department of Human Services Rule 3 and other statutes
- Submit to and pass a background check through the Minnesota Department of Human Services
- Ensure the safety and well-being of each child by responding to their emotional, social, and physical needs in addition to their educational needs and faith development
- Utilize developmentally appropriate practice and best practice methods at all times
- Be a positive role model for all children and Calvary Lutheran staff
- Maintain student/family confidentiality at all times
- Attend workshops/conferences as negotiated with the director to maintain training hours as required by the Minnesota Department of Human Services
- Be able to kneel, bend, squat, and sit on the floor to meet children's needs
- Possess a strong work ethic, be punctual, and have minimal absences
- Basic computer skills
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist assigned teachers with various classroom preparations
- Effectively communicate with other preschool staff
- Collaborate with the director in planning and directing after school activities
- Engage children in activities and play that stimulates their development
- Assist children with activities of daily life (restroom use, hand washing, etc.)
- Appropriately supervise children while keeping them safe at all times
- Establish a professional level of rapport with each family
- Help maintain an environment that is clean, organized and safe for all children
- Attend and engage in family events that may be outside the regular classroom day
- Maintain a professional self-image and project the mission and vision of Calvary Lutheran Christian Preschool and church at all times
- Attend preschool staff meetings and staff development as scheduled by the director
- Attend all-staff retreats 3 times a year
