Hiring Department Teaching Transformation and Development Academy (TTaDA)
 
Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification:  $75,000 per year, 11 month position (off December 15 through January 14), Exempt, Full-Time, Benefitted
Benefits: Includes single or family health care coverage (premiums paid for by the university), basic life insurance, EAP, retirement plan, tuition waiver, annual and sick leave.  Optional benefits available: supplemental life, dental, vision, flexible spending account, supplemental retirement plans. 
Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm

The Faculty Development Specialist & Academic Coach will advance innovative teaching, informed by the scholarship of teaching and learning and best practices in curriculum design and delivery (including online delivery); support University-wide educational effectiveness through collaborating to further a faculty development framework which facilitates excellent student success outcomes tied to UND’s strategic plan; and, provide direct faculty development opportunities particularly in the online environment.  The primary focus will be on coaching faculty members, adjunct faculty, and GTA’s to improve the teaching and learning experience at UND and leading UND’s badging initiative.  Duties include:

  • Provide Faculty Development through various coaching methods (workshops, programs, cohort groups, communities of practice, etc.) to UND Faculty Members, Adjunct Faculty Members, and GTA’s to improve student success in online and on ground courses
  • Coach faculty, adjunct faculty and GTA’s in online teaching methods that generate measurable data useful in assessing impact on student learning and faculty teaching effectiveness 
  • Lead UND badging initiative working collaboratively with colleges/schools, support units, student government, TTaDA and other areas to effectively implement and assess UND’s badging of professional development, skills and competencies, etc. (3 levels of badges: participating, applying, sharing)
  • Develop a library of research materials on best practices in online teaching strategies
  • Work collaboratively within TTaDA to assist in incorporating High Impact Practices in the online environment, to incorporate diversity and inclusivity in online courses and online curricular programs
  • Collaborate with TTaDA Instructional Design and Digital Learning staff regarding effective use and implementation of instructional technology supported by UND
  • Keep current on faculty development research and pedagogy in teaching and learning including online and hybrid delivery of faculty development opportunities
  • Use data related to student success, to develop strategies to improve teaching and learning
  • Participate in TTaDA, UND and NDUS meetings as appropriate
  • Other duties as assigned


Required Competencies:
 

  • Ability to plan, manage, and organize multiple projects at a time; proficient at organization and time management
  • Demonstrated ability to build coalitions and implement strategic priorities in alignment with institutional goals
  • Understanding of academic coaching models
  • Demonstrated ability to support the effective use of online and face-to-face instructional materials and current technologies for a variety of learning tasks, student learning needs, and learning environments. 
  • Interpersonal skills that promote team building, collaboration, and a culture that principally understands and measures effectiveness in terms of others’ successes
  • Excellent analytical, written, interpersonal, communication, consultation and presentation skills; must be able to provide examples of written materials related to faculty development (preferably designed for delivery in the online environment)
  • Ability to provide high level of customer service with a positive, energetic outlook

Minimum Requirements:
 

  • Master’s degree in an academic discipline, higher education, adult learning, or related field
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a higher education setting
  • Experience with theories and best practices in higher education pedagogy, faculty development, and faculty development in an online environment
  • Successful Completion of Criminal History Records Check

Preferred Qualifications
 

  • Ph.D./Ed.D.
  • At least 3 years’ experience coaching, consulting, or instructional role in teaching/learning
  • Experience in an online teaching/learning environment
  • At least 3 years of higher education teaching
  • Experience working at multiple higher education institutions
