Summary/Objective Leads and supervises the construction, assembly, and required preventative maintenance on Solar PV Systems. This can include trouble shooting, testing and repair activities, bolting structural framing and solar modules. May also perform electrical work such as current checks.
Essential FunctionsA belief that all projects can be completed with ZERO injuries and the safety of our employees, subs and owners is top priority.Responsible for construction and installation of DG solar PV systemsAbility to be on-site up to 100% of the timeProvide and maintain personal hand toolsUse and maintain company issued toolsSupervise and direct installers to complete all install processes and tasksProvide on-the-job training to apprentice electriciansAssures compliance with Company safety policies and OSHA and/or MSHA safety standards Install module array interconnect wiring, implementing measures to disable arrays during installation.Assemble solar modules, panels, or support structures as specifiedConduct on-site routine maintenance, service, trouble shooting and repair of solar photovoltaic facilitiesStrong understanding of NEC CodeDC and AC testing included but not limited to polarity, open circuit voltage, grounding continuity, communication, insulation resistance testing, I-V curve tracingMaintain a schedule for routine maintenance, service, trouble shooting and repair of equipment at solar photovoltaic facilitiesCreate service reports and maintain spare parts inventoryIdentify safety hazards and take appropriate action to remove or eliminate hazardsCreate operability and major issue/downtime reportsOrganize, plan, direct, coordinate and report onsite construction activities.Directs and supervises field personnel with daily schedules including people, equipment, materials, subcontractors, suppliers, etc. Reads, interprets and understands all project documentation such as insurance, permitting and project schedulingDocuments delays/changes; sets up staging areas as needed.Maintain and monitor quality standardsReports to the management team all projects progress, new issues, resolutions, and budget and schedule compliance on a consistent basisActs as a trouble shooter on current projectsProvides and arranges timely and efficient mechanical and technical customer service during project's warranty periodMaintains a culture of continuous improvement and problem solving
Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to frequently inspect the project and may be exposed to ongoing construction and various weather conditions. This position is performed in outside weather conditions and in an office environment.
Physical Demands
Work is to be performed in the field and in the office. Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures. PPE personal protective equipment usage is required (including but not limited to; hard hat, arc flash protection, safety glasses, hearing protection)Must have the ability to sit, stoop, kneel, bend, stand, or walk for 8-10 hours a day, as well as working at heights on a regular basisMust be able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., 40 hours per week and will likely require longer hours and frequent weekend work.
Travel Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel is to be expected.
Required Education and Experience
Master Electrical Licensure 3+ years of experience with operations of SCADA, DAS and UPS system Skilled in the use of testing equipment and tools such as Thermographic Electrical Inspection, IV Curving Tracing, Meggers, Ground Fault Detection Experience in all aspects of PV maintenance, including DC systems, AC medium voltage systems, and network communications and monitoringAbility to operate skid steer with trenching attachment, bool lift, and telehandlerExperience working with and running multiple field crews Diagnostic capabilities to troubleshoot and correct problems found Knowledge of National Electrical Code and standard design/construction practicesAbility to read and understand electrical single-line and three-line diagramsProficiency with MS Office Suite NABCEP Certified Installation Professional Valid Driver's License and clean driving recordOSHA 10 and 30 Hour Training NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in workplaceMust have the ability to travel, work on-call during off-shift hours and weekends Ability to take direction and complete tasks with minimal oversight
