SUMMARY: Operate and maintain Man Roland offset printing press.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintain operational condition of CTP platesetters, plate processors following manufacturer's maintenance schedules.
  • Prepare edition plans. Compose and send newspaper and commercial editions to imagers.
  • Operate forklift to load newsprint in reel room.
  • Make paster patterns on reels.
  • Set ink and water and clean ink fountains.
  • Operate densitometer.
  • Learn color registration.
  • Lead web and set rollers, plate press, cleanup blankets and rollers.
  • Responsible for general maintenance and housekeeping of press and reel rooms.
  • Abide by all OSHA regulations and other established company safety policies.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.


WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, talk, hear, use hands to fingers, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance and stoop.
  • Occasionally required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Required to use close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.
  • Frequent exposure to vibration, fumes or airborne particles, and risk of electrical shock.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
  • Physical presence at company workplace required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous printing or pressroom experience preferred.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:
  • Computer experience a plus but not necessary.
  • Mechanically inclined.
