The Department of Public Health ( DPH ) at North Dakota State University invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track faculty position at the level of Assistant/Associate Professor. The DPH offers a Master of Public Health ( MPH ), which is accredited through the Council on Education for Public Health ( CEPH ). We currently offer the MPH in four specializations, a dual MPH /PharmD (with the School of Pharmacy), and a Public Health minor for undergraduate students.

The major focus of this position will be to establish an active, independent, externally funded research program in public health. Additional expectations for this position include, but are not limited to, developing and teaching courses with a focus in one of the specific program tracks (American Indian Public Health, Community Health Sciences, Management of Infectious Disease, or Food Safety), in both face-to-face and online/distance formats, mentoring graduate students, and serving on Department and College committees. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the research, education, and practice mission of the department, be aware of/willing to work with the CEPH accreditation competencies and requirements, and engage in student recruitment. This position reports directly to the DPH Chair.

The mission of the NDSU Department of Public Health is to promote health and well-being through education, practice, and research with an emphasis on American Indian and other diverse and underserved populations. The Master of Public Health program holds the values of professionalism and ethics, diversity, social justice, and using an interdisciplinary team approach.

Currently, the Department of Public Health has 11 full-time faculty members and 11 research and administrative staff. There are 25-30 MPH students that matriculate each year, with approximately 30% using the distance learning option. The department, houses two research centers: the American Indian Public Health Resource Center ( AIPHRC ) and the Center for Immunization Research and Education ( CIRE ), as well as several Maternal Child Health projects. The Department of Public Health is located in the College of Health Professions, where it benefits from strong relationships with the School of Nursing and the School of Pharmacy. Minimum Qualifications:
• Terminal degree in public health or related field
• Evidence of scholarly contributions in the field of public health including, but not limited to, peer-reviewed publications, or professional meeting presentations
• Evidence of ability to establish an independent research program
• Experience with teaching in a university or college setting
• Effective oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
• Professional public health training (e.g. MPH , MS in Public Health, or CPH )
• Experience working with diverse and/or underserved populations
• Experience working with American Indian and/or other indigenous populations
• Experience with student mentoring
• Experience in at least one of the existing specializations within the NDSU MPH program (American Indian Public Health, Community Health Sciences, Management of Infectious Disease, Food Safety)
